Job Description
To Manage all VAT accounting, book keeping, monthly returns and monthly reports in line with VAT laws. Support line manager in ensuring an efficient and effective VAT compliance.
Detection and evaluation of VAT risks/opportunities to ensure DIB Assistant Manager - VAT and Tax is on the right side of the law with respect to compliance.
Preparation and filing of Monthly VAT returns for the DIB tax group and ensuring payment of VAT liability to avoid penal action from the tax authority.
Settlement of VAT payable / receivable with each entity within the tax group to ensure financial accounting entries and financial obligations are settled.
Reconciliation of records between DIB and subsidiaries (all entities within the tax group) in order to ensure smooth running of the process and robustness of controls.
Support subsidiaries with their day-to-day queries and troubleshooting in order to ensure VAT compliance and to prevent pressure at month end.
Complete annual computation for apportionment calculation as part of annual wash up exercise in line with VAT Law and Executive Regulations
Organize and update the tax database/Mapping through the VAT Engine to minimize VAT risk.
Preparation of various daily and fortnightly reconciliations reports to ensure effectiveness of controls and highlighting gaps for possible timely fixation.
Share relevant financial entries with the accounting department and ensure at all times VAT GLs are reconciled and financial books of DIB, TML, Madinat Badr and subsidiaries are closed.
Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure their information requests are timely dealt with and if any observations then those are timely implemented in order to enhance controls.
Support businesses with their queries on VAT along with all subsidiaries to ensure VAT compliance.
Advising subsidiaries on VAT implications of transactions keeping in mind their different line of services for e.g. real estate development, manufacturing, labor supply, equity trading, asset management, etc. in line with VAT Law and Executive regulations
Ensure client queries are addressed efficiently and effectively to ensure utmost customer service and customer first attitude.
Keeping oneself abreast of new products development, Islamic Banking and VAT laws to remain ahead of the competition and continuously learning and growing.
Proactive and capable of coming up with solutions and initiatives on a daily basis with respect to open items in hand.
All the above accountabilities include but not limited to any additional/new tasks or responsibilities assigned by the line Manager.
Competencies/Skills
Education
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
Preferable to have Master's/ACA/CPA or equivalent.
Work Experience
Minimum 3-4 Years of diversified experience in the Field of accounting Finance, banking industry and taxation (indirect taxes)
Big 4 experience preferably in audit
